Living in the Moment -
Ashlin Dz W.
I am alone with just my wits to depend on. Sometimes the feeling of just wanting to close my eyes until the ride is over sets in, but when the thought arises it is overcome by another voice yelling in my head. “THERE IS NO WAY YOU CAN TURN BACK NOW, you have already paid your fare for the ride and it is about to begin soon. The only real question I have to answer is, will I sit at the front or the back? The hard part is over, I am here let the ride begin.
I was once told that many people spend three-quarters of their life in the past or future and only 25% of it living in the present. Traveling is an experience that takes you out of your normal routine and forces you to enjoy the present, for this reason and many others I am fascinated with traveling.
I am no expert on travel and have not done nearly as much traveling as I would like, but in the rare occasion that I do get to travel I do my best to enjoy every second of the experience. Whether it is a trip to another state or a study abroad opportunity, traveling forces you to confront the present to live and think about the here and now.
